VINTAGE VIEW will be at Rikketik on November 15 — come say hi! 👋
Straight from the Space Age!
The Sirio, a wonderful piece of Italian lighting design from the 1970s, created by designers Ermanno Lampa and Sergio Brazzoli for Harvey Guzzini.
During the 1960s and 1970s, Italian designers were fascinated by the possibilities of new materials, futuristic shapes and the Space Age. Harvey Guzzini was one of the manufacturers leading this movement, producing some of the most recognizable lighting designs of the era.
Introduced in 1970, the Sirio is a perfect example of that philosophy. Its almost spherical body is made from two moulded acrylic sections, held together by decorative chrome fittings. When illuminated, the white acrylic creates a lovely soft glow, while the narrow opening between the two halves adds another interesting lighting effect.
And here's a fun detail! The name Sirio refers to Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. Quite a fitting name for this little glowing ball of light!
A fantastic piece of Italian Space Age design that looks equally at home on a bedside table, bookshelf or desk.
Condition: Good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use.
Dimensions (H × W × D): 20 × 16 × 16 cm
Brand: Harvey Guzzini
Reference: Sirio
Era: 1970s
Material: Acrylic and chrome-plated metal
Bulb: E14
