Behold the TWEMCO BQ-17! A chunky flip clock with a display showing the time, day and date. Leap years included!
TWEMCO was founded in Hong Kong in 1960, originally manufacturing electric fans. In the late 1960s, the founder's sons developed an ingenious automatic calendar mechanism, leading to the introduction of their first flip clocks in 1970. By 1982, TWEMCO had completely shifted its focus to producing these iconic clocks.
And it's easy to see why! Forget boring digital screens. The BQ-17 combines a quartz movement with a mechanical flip mechanism.
With its cream-coloured case, oversized typography and retro office aesthetic, this is one seriously cool piece of functional design. A true Hong Kong retro-futuristic design classic!
