Omega Genève Grand Sport "Racing Dial" 135.041

€0.00

Omega Genève Grand Sport "Racing Dial" 135.041—what exactly is this? A Timex disguised with an Omega logo? Or perhaps an exceptionally rare Caliber 601?

This is the Grand Sport, a time-only watch marketed as a “racing” watch at an accessible price. It’s the more affordable sibling of the Omega Chronostop, itself marketed as a consumer-friendly alternative to the Omega Speedmaster. The Grand Sport reflects this heritage with hand designs seen on the Chronostop and other Omega chronographs.

Rarity? Absolutely. Fewer than 15 of these are known to exist, leading some to believe it commemorates the 1968 Canadian Grand Prix. Personally, I doubt this, as most examples are found in the Netherlands, supported by Omega Archive records. I think it was simply an affordable, racing-inspired model for the budget-conscious Dutch market.

This example is in honest condition. The case retains its sharp edges and original brushed finish. The dial maintains its matte black finish with crisp white text, while the tritium on the dial and hands, though slightly aged, remains intact.
